Diagnostic Screening and Treatment (DST) camps are community-based outreach initiatives designed to provide health services to underserved, rural, or "unreached" populations. Through these camps our outreach team focus on early detection, immediate treatment of minor conditions, and referral of serious cases to Nava Dristi Eye Hospital. We are conducting DST Camp regularly in rural & underserved area.
Core Outreach Activities of DST Camps
- Screening and Diagnostics: Comprehensive screenings, including visual acuity testing, intraocular pressure measurement (glaucoma), and refraction tests.
- On-Site Treatment: Providing immediate treatment for minor conditions, such as simple conjunctivitis, dry eye, or dispensing free/subsidized glasses.
- Referral Services: Identifying patients requiring surgeries (e.g., cataracts) or specialized care (e.g., diabetic retinopathy) and facilitating their transfer to Nava Dristi Eye Hospital.
- Awareness and Health Education: Conducting education sessions on hygiene, nutrition, disease prevention, and the importance of regular eye check-ups, often using tools like brochures, local radio, and flyers.
- Patient Counseling: Offering personalized counseling to patients to explain the nature of their eye problems, clear doubts regarding treatment, and secure consent for surgery.
- Community Mobilization: Partnering with local community leaders and local organizations to encourage participation and ensure the camp serves those in need.
